The season has come to an end for us, but not before we were able to get in one last Trash Tuesday for 2018 in Turkey. We spent the last 2 nights anchored off the west side of Gocek Adasi, an island very near to Gocek town. It's close enough so you can take your tender into Gocek, but far enough away and tucked around a corner so that you do not see the lights of the town. We arrived at dusk after a 9 hour sail from north of Bozburun near Selimiye and it was only when we wok
Sadly, by this time next week, we will be moored in a marina and preparing Lady Roslyn for winter. We have loved our journey along the Turkish coastline and taking time to explore the wonderful Gulf of Gokova. After meandering along the southern shores of the Gulf for over a week, we crossed to the north side and entered the large bay of Akbuk Limani. The previous week was all about anchoring in small coves enclosed by rolling hills, densely covered in pine forests which grow
Here in Turkey it feels as though the season is starting to draw to a close. The weather continues to be beautiful - other than the scare last week of us being close to a Medicane (a Mediterranean Hurricane) which ended up veering into the Peloponnese in Greece. However, it feels much less crowded than during the height of summer and we are enjoying bay after bay all to ourselves. Our Trash Tuesday post for today comes from Degirmen Buku deep in the Gulf of Gokova. Many peopl
We've been back in Turkey for 2 weeks now but were busy with guests on board so did not have the chance to post this before now. We have cleared the trash from 2 bay's since being back and want to share the locations. After leaving Fethiye towards Gocek where we were to fetch our friends, we motored along the coast looking for a suitable anchorage. We anchored and secured 2 lines ashore on the western shore against a small cliff in the bay of Kucuk Kargi Koyu. It's a lovely a
Another beautiful day, another beautiful bay. We anchored in a very beautiful cove last evening very close to last weeks Trash Tuesday bay. Since then we have been south as far as Kekova and are now heading back towards Gocek. This cove is very close to Cold Water Bay and Gemiler Adasi. At Cold Water Bay (which can be seen in the panorama image) there were probably 12 yachts anchored last evening and at Gemiler a similar number together with a few gulets. In this little spot
A HUGE thank you to Tammy, Jack & Tom Rutherford for helping out this morning to clear the small bay we have been anchored in of all the plastic trash we could find. This cove is between the Karacaoren and Gemiler Adasi anchorages and is absolutely beautiful. However, with Olu Deniz relatively close by, and lots of day tripper boats around, the cove traps all the trash in the afternoon breeze. Yesterday, while we were anchoring, we saw 4 turtles in the cove and during the aft
We sailed the short hop from Symi to Bozburun with light winds at 180 degrees. With the Turkish flag being bright red, I couldn't resist the opportunity to cross over the maritime boundary with "Lady in Red" our beautiful Wingaker sail flying. #LadyRoslyn #Sailing #Catamaran #FountainePajot #Simi #Symi #Bozburun #Turkey #Wingaker
