We have just returned home after having lived for 92 days on board "Lady Roslyn" this season, sailing nearly 2000 nautical miles from northern Italy near Venice, through Croatia, Montenegro, the Ionian islands of Greece, around the Peloponnese and as far north as Skopelos in the Sporades before returning to Athens for winter. We spent a very high percentage of our overnight stops at anchor - 68 of the 92 nights, to be exact - and as I reflect on the incredible summer we have
On the 19th June we sailed from Molat, down the Dugi Otok Channel, to Telascica National Park in Croatia. Once underway, we hoisted our beautiful Wingaker "Lady in Red" and enjoyed nearly 4 hours of flat water sailing with warm breezes and Lady Roslyn gliding effortlessly downwind at between 7 and 10 knots. A day like this is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. This short video clip was shot in one single pan using our DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone. #LadyRoslyn #Sailing #Catama
Lady Roslyn slowly motoring past Dubrovnik so we could take in the scale of the fortifications - some 6 metres thick and which have never been breached by an invading army. It's been invaded by tourists now, but even so is a wonder to visit. #LadyRoslyn #Croatia #Sailing #Catamaran #Dubrovnik
The church and monastery of Saint Mary, completed in 1198, on an small island in the middle of Veliko Jezero lake on Mljet. We loved cycling from Polace, where we were anchored, over the hill and around the 2 salt water lakes, before taking a small boat out to visit the monastery. #LadyRoslyn #Croatia #Sailing #Catamaran #Mljet
Red sky at night is not always a sailor's delight. These clouds brought lightening all around us and a very sudden increase in wind out of the NE. With wind gusting 30-35 knots and other yachts too near for comfort, we raised anchor and motored to the lee of the island nearby and set anchor there for the night. Lumbarda near the town of Korcula. #LadyRoslyn #Croatia #Sailing #Catamaran #Korcula #Lumbarda
A spectacular little cove along the quieter east coast of Hvar. Anchored with 2 stern lines and a starboard bow line to the cliffs ashore. We couldn't bring ourselves to leave, so spent two nights at anchor here. I couldn't bring myself to choose only one "Photo of the Day", so there are two today. #LadyRoslyn #Croatia #Sailing #Catamaran #Hvar
Gracisce Bay, Hvar. A beautiful, steep sided bay which is close to Stari Grad. Anchored with 2 stern lines ashore. It took a number of attempts to get the anchor to set through the sea grass. We spent 2 nights at anchor here and visited Stari Grad using the RIB. #LadyRoslyn #Croatia #Sailing #Catamaran #GracisceBay #Hvar
From tranquility to relative chaos. Maslinica, Solta. "Lady Roslyn" is anchored with 2 stern lines ashore - 3rd boat from the right in the image below. As we were preparing to drop anchor and reverse into our spot, the monohull 6th from the right in this picture cut across our bows, turned hard to port and started to drop his anchor. We were not going to be bullied and as options were few, slowly bore down on him with fenders prepared. He eventually got the message and moved.
