A few weeks ago I was asked by someone on Facebook to please post details about the hookah rig which we use on Lady Roslyn when needing to dive under the boat.

This piece of equipment is a real asset to have onboard. It makes diving under the hulls a quick and easy task.

We have an electric Paramina dive compressor, 3 scuba tanks, and 3 full sets of scuba gear with us. In the 4 years we have owned Lady Roslyn, I have probably used the hookah rig attached to a scuba tank on the deck, around 25...

A few days ago we found a lovely unnamed anchorage along the southern coastline of Pserimos. The bottom is sand with good holding and there is only the sound of goat bells for company and the twinkling of the lights across the channel to Kos at night.

Our good friends, Ian and Jenny were sailing with us and at sunset Jenny SUP’ped to shore to walk along the beach. She came back to Lady Roslyn with a selection of plastic trash she had found littering the beach.

In the morning, Ian and I took t...

For a number of years before buying Lady Roslyn, we chartered catamarans in various locations around the Mediterranean. The man we used to find the right boat, at the right time, in the right location and at the right price was almost always Roger Garnett from Tenrag Yacht Charters in the UK.

Somehow he always came through for us and even though we now own our own boat, he has kept contact with us via Facebook.

He often commented on our posts and in particular he showed an interest in what w...

It's been a while since our last "Sharing the lessons" post, but we have a few new ones lined up if I can just stop long enough to write them.

While underwater, cleaning the hulls after we had left Lady Roslyn for a few weeks to return home, I noticed that our propeller zincs were almost completely corroded away. The sail drive zincs are fine but the propeller zincs definitely needed replacing.

We last lifted Lady Roslyn from the water 18 months ago in Athens and we do not intend removing her...

If you read our Trash Tuesday post from 23rd July you may remember that on a 4km stretch of one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, I picked up 668 plastic bottle caps while out running one day.

After leaving Sani Marina we travelled north to Thessaloniki where we left LADY ROSLYN for 6 weeks to return home. As soon as I arrived home I forwarded my blog post to Sani Resort, which borders Bousalas beach, for their comments. They have one of the most comprehensive Sustainability Reports o...

This is the first properly edited video we have ever posted. It is in the format we hope to use for all videos going forward which will be themed "Lady Roslyn in under 3 minutes".

I'm not going to preempt the narrative, but the day that the story relates to was certainly a highlight of our summer so far.

The video was edited on Adobe Premier Pro. Hopefully my editing skills will improve and speed up over time. The video you see is less than 3 minutes long but took almost 15 hours of editing...

I can't speak for other areas of the world, but if you have sailed in the Mediterranean Sea, I am sure that you will have noticed white polystyrene containers floating on the surface of the water.

Human beings have evolved to find pattern in chaos and to visually identify what should not be in a scene. This ability helped our ancestors to survive by being able to spot a sabre toothed tiger stalking them in the long grass.

Nowadays, perhaps that skill is no longer needed as much as a survival...

We have just berthed for 3 nights at the absolutely beautiful Sani Marina and Resort on the Kassandra Peninsula in northern Greece. It is by far and away the most luxurious marina we have ever stayed in and the adjoining hotels, restaurants and facilities are absolutely world class. It is a remarkable development and one that is well worth visiting if you are in the area and feel like splurging on a little luxury.

As we begin preparing to leave Lady Roslyn for 6 weeks, I did feel a little as...

We are currently anchored for a few days in the most sublime, secluded, deep V shaped cove on the uninhabited island of Nisos Kira Panayia in the Northern Sporades of Greece.

As I sit here typing this, the only sounds I hear are of thousands of cicadas rubbing their legs together in the song of a hot Greek summer, with the occasional bleat of goats who roam the hillsides around us.

We’re only around 4 nautical miles from the northern tip of Alonissos but it feels so remote and untouched by m...

This anchorage gets very busy during the day with tripper boats but empties out considerably in the evening. If you arrive and there are lots of craft anchored there already, it's best to anchor further out and wait until sunset. You should be able to manoeuvre right into this little bay which has the clearest water we have seen in a long time. It also has a beautiful, fine sand beach.

We collected a bag of plastic trash along the shoreline a few days ago which included 91 plastic drinking...
