On the south eastern tip of the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese is an attractive anchorage called Porto Kayio.
There are the ruins of an old monastery high on the hill above the anchorage and small church on the headland as you enter the bay.
We anchored there for the night before crossing the Gulf of Laconia to Elafonisos Island and would have liked to stay longer had time allowed.
It all felt very uncrowded and relaxed and far from the charter route.
